• Virginia voters will decide whether to add a 1% sales tax for school construction and NoVA transit. Voters in 47 jurisdictions weigh the measure in November, with revenue in Northern Virginia eligible for both school modernization and support for Metro and local transit. • Regional leaders pitched cutting red tape as the path to economic growth. Fairfax Board Chair Jeff McKay and other officials told several hundred business leaders at a George Mason forum that governments must deliver "reliability and predictability." • FCPS will bring advanced academic programs to every middle school. The school board voted 10-1 to phase in AAP at 11 middle schools that lacked it, so qualifying students no longer leave their neighborhood schools for the courses. • Manassas cleared a major federal hurdle to offer commercial passenger flights. • Fairfax's civic federation lined up against the Plaza 500 data center in Lincolnia.
