Volume 1, Issue 21 | Duplicates
Now that it’s suddenly seasonably cold and dark, you’re probably in the mood to do more things indoors, in some place with good heat, warm lighting, and good company; where you don’t have to shout over the din of strangers to be heard, and only sometimes have to shout over the din of friends; a place with bean bags and lamps, an electric kettle, and a good number of plants and art books.
And since you’re probably in that mood, I’m pleased to share that we continue to be just that kind of place. Swing by during the day or come to an event. Keep keeping us company.

Happenings
This week:
Moonlight Showcase, Monday, November 4
Moonlight members only (for now). This is where Moonlighters show off work from the last lunation and commit to projects for the next lunation. Interested in joining a social club for side projects based around the cycle of the moon? Reply to this email.
Weekly Wednesday Worknight, Wednesday, November 6
The Company is about combining creative work with good friendships. Make an appointment with your side project this (or any) Wednesday at a Worknight, where we oscillate between enforced, focused, quiet time and optional chatty social time. $5, or free for Company and Moonlight members.
Cozy Pen Plotter Party, Saturday, November 9
The afternoon before PowerPoint Party, Denver Creative Code (a meetup run by Norton) is hosting a cozy pen plotter party. Our dear pen plotter Penelope and some friends of hers will draw and plot and make prints while others of us stand around drinking hot drinks and listening to chill music. If you’re interested in watching her at work, or having her make plots of your own designs, you should come. She and her friends accept SVGs.
PowerPoint Party No. 20, Saturday, November 9
What’s a PowerPoint Party, you ask? Twelve people giving 7-minute presentations about whatever they’re currently into. At past ones, people have presented about their rules for life, case-sensitive forms, and why you should make things. It’s a wide mix.
It’s a nerdy and sincere crowd that cares a lot, and we’ve met some of our favorite people at these.
Want to present? We’ve got a waiting list. Want to just show up and meet interesting people and learn about what’s fascinating them lately? That’s great too. Bring yourself, bring a friend, bring your mom.
Next Week:
Yoga with Dan, Sunday, November 10
We invite you to a special Vinyasa Yoga class taught by the one and only Daniel Evan Quay.
This one hour, all-levels “flow” class syncs engaging physical poses with intentional breathwork to build flexibility and coordination while attuning to our inner selves. Students can expect a moderate, low impact workout with light breathing exercises.
Classes are limited to 20 students. Please RSVP early.
We have a limited number of mats available for rental.
We want everyone to have access to Yoga with Dan! We offer 5, free “Community Passes” to each class, including a mat rental.
Future Weeks:
Homecoming, Saturday, November 16
Some of us, for various reasons, never made it to a formal school dance. Others of us did. In both cases, we want another go at it, and thanks to Halie and Lizzie we’re gonna get that ‘nother go on November 16.
The theme is Old Hollywood. We’ll walk the red carpet and take photos and dance and eat snacks and drink punch and consensually make out with whoever we want to.
This is in a little under two weeks, so if you want to find your on-theme outfits or on-theme dates, consider this your heads up.
Would you like to go to Homecoming with all of us? →

Nostalgia
Do you remember the Sunday we had the ballot study hall? How we met Mike, saw Mark again, read quietly, and thought hard about things? How when Livvy called for a vote on whether to keep having more quiet time, Norton whispered “democracy!”?
Do you remember how we lingered for a long time after, and our discussion about politics turned into a discussion about art?
Meeting with Jim?
How book club started while others left, the flurry of hellos and goodbyes?
Meeting the refugee family for the first time? Being a little nervous at first, then springing to action? The notes, the spreadsheets, the texts? Grinning ear to ear?
Discussing the differences between the book and the movie?
All the traffic on the way to the block printing class, and the class itself? How Justin taught, and we sat and carved, and eventually pulled prints? How we were so excited to see the positives?
Do you remember how that was the week it suddenly it got cold, and the red tree dropped most of its leaves?
The urgent food run? All the conversations about the sub-lease?
Lunch at Avanti, the meeting of the pastry committee, the stories about Beagle the tortoise?
Or that lovely day, away from The Company, when we gathered to watch Allyson sing in a choir concert for the first time in twelve years? How we met on the steps, sat in the pews, and we heard the people sing?
How we walked to food afterward, Dan yelling “Rush!!!” as the walk signal counted down?
The movie night after? Reenacting the moment we reconnected with Drew?
Bureaucratic Minutiae
At the Ballot Study Hall, we read and researched and discussed all of the issues on the tremendously lengthy ballot.
Most of the people participating in Allyson’s Refugee Initiative got to meet the family for the first time this past week.
Mary Ann’s Book Club gathered to watch and discuss The Watchers.
Justin taught his block printing class, and we carved and made prints of shapes and moments and sigils and plant life.
At Worknight: Livvy worked on another draft, Norton worked on a letter, Jacob set up an animation controller for a spider, and Ivan proposed and finalized a schedule for anniversary activities.
At the first meeting of The Pastry Committee we primarily discussed the escapades of Beagle the tortoise. The Company would like to kindly petition for more frequent updates to her social media feed.
Finally, a reminder that The Company is a membership-supported mixed-use creative space, and if you know any of us, you’re welcome to pop in any time for free (outside of events). If you know that one of us is here and you’d like to come by, reach out and we can let you in.
Do you know anyone in the Denver area who might be looking for creative community? Feel free to forward this email along to them. Everyone loves Paperwork.
