vol. 2, no. 44 | Breather
As a relief to me (and perhaps to you as well) we had far fewer things happen this past week. The days after PowerPoint Party are always without a major Management-hosted event, and Worknight—that steady rhythm, rarely ever skipped—was cancelled for reasons of celebration.
And so: fewer photos, less to be nostalgic about, and an overall easier week for this tireless (though sometimes lately actually quite-tired) reporter.

Happenings
This week:
Glint: Spill, Tuesday, March 17
True, personal stories, told live, without notes. Pretty much exactly like The Moth, except without the competition, on Tuesdays instead of Fridays, and everyone knows each other (or is about to). Our next theme is “Spill“.
Have you made a mess? Have you dropped something that went everywhere? Have you seen something overflow? Have you been responsible for an environmental disaster? Have you spilled blood, spilled your guts, or spilled the beans? Have you cried over spilled milk or do you know why we’re not supposed to? Whatever your interpretation, we want to hear it.
Come hear from James, Joshua, Eunice, Jessica P., Laura, Earl, Lizzie, Sylvia, Mary Ann, Madeleine, Allyson, and Jaime, or join the waitlist to tell your own story.
$10, or free for tellers and members.
Weekly Wednesday Worknight, Wednesday, March 18
The Company is about combining creative work with good friendships. Make an appointment with your side project this (or any) Wednesday at a Worknight, where we oscillate between enforced, focused, quiet time and optional chatty social time.
$5, free for Company and Moonlight members
Future Weeks:
In the Making, Thursday, March 26
A show and tell for original, amateur, creative works in progress. Each presenter has 10 minutes to spend however they choose (any mix of presenting, Q&A, workshopping, getting feedback).
We’ve got three slots left for presenters, so sign up using Whiteboard or reply if you’re interested!
$10, or free for members and presenters
Cuppa’s 1-Year Anniversary Party!, Saturday, March 28
Cuppa is turning one, and we’re going to celebrate! Show up anytime during Cuppa hours (9am-2pm), and get any drink for just $4! Each drink purchase will get you 1 raffle ticket. Games and puzzles will be set out, so feel free to come and hang out for a bit, chat, make a new friend, and enjoy the good company at Cuppa. The raffle will take place at 11am, with goodies from local artists and businesses.
Free for everyone
No need to RSVP, just show up.

Nostalgia
Do you remember how it was just the three of us in during the workday? That we talked about Jim’s spill, and thought about the future? How it was so warm on that day, and we walked down to the river and picked up ice cream on the way back?
Or the evening of the Company Retreat planning? How people filtered in, and some of you met beforehand about a separate but closely related coup? How we talked about the solution to a hearing problem? And how the evening’s schemes continued without Management?
Do your remember the day when we talked about the possibility of new weekly event? How Maddie and Will showed up, and we talked about construction on the way to coffee? How you thought about decentering work?
Or the big Wednesday with Earl’s friend, Bohdi? Were you there for the moment when Jessica S. overheard him talking, and asked him if he was DJ Bohdi? And their excitement in tracking down all the people they might know in common?
How River got a bath? How we met up with Asher at the playground, and so many of us held court from the car? That everyone drifted off to celebrate Gus, and somehow it was a surprise to him? Do you remember how we made zines, and learned more about him, and ate cake, and explored the basement? That we moved on to Diebolt?
Do you remember our recess walk in a new direction? Our inspection of the demolition? Our reflection on how it’s really a pain to always be documenting and remembering everything instead of just experiencing life? How that reminded me to take a photo?
The post-workday sighting of Jim? How Mark talked to the really nice man whose birthday it was, and then you talked about why your parents didn’t like The Prince of Egypt?
The return?
The Hoppers offsite? How we cried and laughed and sobbed throughout, especially when we learned that they dedicated the entire movie to Lauren T.? How we cheered for her, and she cried some more?
How some of us went on to celebrate Marissa, for different lengths of time?
Bureaucratic Minutiae
Worknight was cancelled this past week, tragically leading to an unaccompanied spirit, as Case reported the following:
I did my own Wednesday worknight with a white board, a tiny time timer, and stars, just so I could pretend I was at The Company. Miss you all! I don't know if it counts, but every ritual helps!, and hopefully I was there in spirit

Finish and send a (redacted) proposalWe have a time clock. Partially because, hey, we’re a Company! And mostly because we love having a physical record of (almost) everyone who’s been in the space. People punch in and out when they visit. At the end of each month, we stack up all the cards by visit count in the Fibonacci sequence. Here’s the data for February 2026:
1 visit: 81 people
2 visits: 23 people
3–4 visits: 10 people
5–7 visits: 7 people
8–12 visits: 9 people
13–20 visits: 7 people
21+ visits: 1 personTotal people: 138
People who came more than once: 57Other notes:
The fibonacci sequence column post-its that were labeled and laminated last month have now been successfully reused! Reusable labels for PowerPoint Party, Glint, and In The Making have also been laminated, leaving space for additional dry-erase annotation where relevant.
Thanks to Alex and Will for help numbering and sorting punch cards this month.
This month had the most total unique visitors of any month at The Company so far: 138. The last highest month was October 2025 at 127.
This month had the most people who visited more than once of any month at The Company so far (except that one exceptional December, which had 72 for unnatural reasons) at 57. The previous highest was May 2025 at 51.
Note: We don’t generally record visitors to Cuppa if they are only stopping in for Cuppa. Many people came through the space that are not represented here!
Inevitably: incomplete and messy data.
Finally, a reminder that The Company is a member-supported gathering place, and if you know any of us, you’re welcome to pop in any time for free (outside of events). If you know that one of us is here and you’d like to come by, reach out and we can let you in.
