hey chat, i know it’s sus to try aura farming with these mid intros, and i know wordsmaxxing makes some chopped sentences, and i also know it’s Ohio for an unc to sweat at rizz, but lowkirkenuinely i lock in and cook ’cause y’all mean skibidi to me.
also, i forgot to do ms. mac’s project during PowerPoint Party, so i wanna flex that i understood the assignment. i’m just turning it in late.
Speaking of late, I did entirely forget to mention that in addition to this past PowerPoint Party being McKenna’s last, it was also Colleen’s last! I first met Colleen through Mark’s Ishmael Book Club, which she arrived at knowing no one and bearing baked goods. She had long before come to a Yoga With Dan, and shortly before come to a PowerPoint Party, but you know how it is—there are so many people at some of these things that it’s hard to meet everyone.
In any case, I wanted to acknowledge here, though late, that it’s been great to have her around. Thanks, Colleen, for helping us understands the kids a little bit better, and we wish you nothing but birsch in California.

Bureaucratic Minutiae
- To the users of the Chris-sponsored hot-desk, Trevr finally took his monitor away. His sister wanted it.
- At Worknight: Patrick fixed the current bug list, tested, and deployed a new version; Ivan and Madeleine spent one hour processing Hearse-Con tape; Ivan planned help for July Power Point Party; Livvy solicited and prepared for more Worknight help; Joe finished the tableau section of his presentation; Alex wrote a card and wrote a draft; Lizzie edited Gabby's headshots; Jessica P. submitted software requests, prepared materials for the popsicle catapult assignment, and worked on letters of recommendation; and Morgan drafted a eulogy. - At PowerPoint Party: Beth presented about grievances and good stuff, Jim animated maps, Laura gave us a tour of Nazi propaganda, Dan took us through the confusing and high stakes world of tampon shopping, Colleen taught us what it meant to mog, Simon made audible attacks on audiobooks, Lauren T. credited Nettie Stevens, Adam gave us some mixtapes, Sarah A. helped increase our coherence, Mark made some of us cry about soccer, and McKenna ranked her favorite airports.

Attendance data for May.
We have a time clock. Partially because, hey, we’re a Company! And mostly because we love having a physical record of (almost) everyone who’s been in the space. People punch in and out when they visit. At the end of each month, we stack up all the cards by visit count in the Fibonacci sequence. Here’s the data for May 2026:
1 visit: 82 people
2 visits: 12 people
3–4 visits: 10 people
5–7 visits: 9 people
8–12 visits: 5 people
13–20 visits: 7 people
21+ visits: 3 peopleTotal people: 128
People who came more than once: 46Other notes:
- Thanks to Alex for help numbering and sorting punch cards (again!) this month.
- Exactly 10 less people visited only once this month than last month. Exactly the same number of people visited more than once.
- The “Misc.” sub-column in the 1s included visitors to: The Original Fiction Show, the Creative Writing Workshop, The Company Anniversary Party, and In the Making.
- Note: We don’t generally record visitors to Cuppa if they are only stopping in for Cuppa. Many people came through the space that are not represented here!
- Inevitably: incomplete and messy data.

- Finally, a reminder that The Company is a member-supported gathering place. If you’d like to pop in for a workday and you know one of us, reach out to schedule a time and we can let you in for free. If we don’t know you yet, reach out so we can get to know you, or come by an event and say hi.
Nostalgia
Do you remember the lunchtime hail storm? The recess of ricochet Robots? The incredibly late arrival of Jessica S.?
The Creative Writing Workshop, where we wrote about shelter? How at the end we waited to see who wanted to share, and Madeleine waited so patiently, and Lauren S. said “You can tell she has classroom experience!”?
And do you remember lunch with Ellen’s friend Rafa? That we talked about Santa and parenting and our childhood memories of punishment? How of course we also showed him how to play Ricochet Robots? How that’s really most of what we did for months?
How before our recess walk we took a trip to a stationery shop?
Or the Empowerment Manual book club? That we talked about talking, and gossiping, and inferring, and swapped stories about misunderstandings?
And do you remember Patrick’s lunchtime playtesting? How excited Alex was? How we moved on to to talking about health, and playing more Ricochet Robots?
That Will finally returned from his travels? How at recess we again visited REI in search of first aid and shoes? That Will filled us in on his journey on the way back?
Do you remember the Worknight? How it was Jessica P.’s second, but first one on purpose? How she and Lizzie were matching? How at its conclusion we performed the star ceremony, and Livvy dutifully shared Will’s gift of Premium Hi-Chews?
Morgan and I didn’t know it was happening, because we were busy talking, but did you hear Alex’s speech, at the end?
Do you remember the recess walk to ice cream? How you talked about confession and confirmation and Catholic school?
Your Princess Diaries movie night, with the not-tasty M&M pizza?
Or the First Friday Feast at Avanti?
The birth of Michelle’s Tamagotchi?
And do you remember our prep for the 39th PowerPoint Party? How we started with an onboarding discussion, and assigned roles? That we trained and prepared for our upcoming absence?
How the show ran so smoothly?
That we learned more about the Inca, tampons, and the World Cup? Do you remember how Jessica S. shouted “So it’s his fault!” during Lauren T.’s presentation? How quickly we reset the room after? That we again made it to bartaco and again bemoaned their new ordering system?
