3.13 — Catchup
Hi hi—how are you? Me, myself, I’m a bit run over. Within acceptable limits though, so nothing to worry about—just an odd assortment of too many things packed in, both good and tricky (as I’m writing this, from home, a leak has just appeared in our unit).
Anyway, just a little behind is all, as you can see, so thanks for your patience on this late-week weekly recap of last week. (I will acknowledge that I briefly considered skipping this issue, but there’s the issue about the numbering of the issues, and both skipping or not skipping the issue number would lead to other issues, and would probably prompt me to issue an apology or explanation.)
Anyway… where was I?
Oh yes, kind of a shorter week documentation-wise, as I was away for a few days last week, and as it was one of those once-a-month weeks when we have no major events. (And here is one of the issues with delayed issues, as it is quite confusing, I think, to talk about ‘last week’ at the end of a week. Last week here means August 2–8, and not this current week, which I’ll be recapping sometime between Sunday and Friday of next week.) But still, some good images, and memories.
With or without the documentation of it, it is nice to have and have had and to expect to have your company. See some of you this and next week, and probably in the past as well.

→ Up Next
- Okay so it makes no sense to mention Glint: Lost, or this week’s Weekly Wednesday Worknight, but this is the issue in which I would have re-mentioned them.
- But for next week (and you’re going to get this same exact info early next week):
- Every Wednesday forever (including this next one, August 19) is Weekly Wednesday Worknight. $5, or free for members.
- The next In the Making will be on Thursday, August 20. Interested in sharing work? Sign up using Whiteboard or shoot us an email letting us know. We’ve got lots of space at the moment.
- Mary Ann’s Book Club is reading The Score for August 31. Get a copy and get reading.
- Further out, but worth a mention because it will sell out: a bunch of us are again going to The Moth GrandSlam in support of Madeleine, who will again be competing! September 25. Get a ticket and mark your calendar.

Nostalgia
Do you remember our recapping of PowerPoint Party to Adam? Our indoor recess game of Set, because it was hot?
Or The Creative Writing Workshop, about nature? How some of us worked through prompts, while elsewhere some of you watched Bridesmaids at Film On The Rocks? And it started raining?
The lunch talk about butterflies and synanthropes? Our return to the playground for recess, after what felt like so many months away? How Marcia came along? How we hung, and talked about parenting?
Do you remember how some of us gathered at Adam and Mo’s, even though we postponed the Empowerment Manual Book Club? That we got the tour of his famous garden, and visited chickens, and ate so well?
Or the day when Norton was given a gift of a whole case of coconut coffee drinks? That after we started drinking them we learned that they were expired, and older than Asher?
Do you remember Ryan’s Worknight? How we met another Marissa, and wondered where the old one had gone?
The First Friday Feast at Daughter Thai? How Livvy called three times because they couldn’t hear her, just to figure out if they could take the 7 of you walking in? How you talked about fiber arts and learned exactly what certain numbers, red barns, and white rectangles mean to Jessica S.?
Or Overtime at Jaime’s? The pen show-and-tell, where you each passed a pen around the room? Asher’s distress over the door, and how everything was “green!”?
Bureaucratic Minutiae
- The hydrangeas are in.
- At Worknight: Lauren ate dinner and napped; Jessica pushed a commit; Marissa updated keywords; Ryan put in applications and worked on a drawing; Ivan worked on uppercase letters; Livvy worked on the baby registry (yay!); and Sabrina finished the DJ and coordinator forms. Writeup by Ryan
- Finally, a reminder that The Company is a member-supported gathering place. If you’d like to pop in for a workday and you know one of us, reach out to schedule a time and we can let you in for free. If we don’t know you yet, reach out so we can get to know you, or come by an event and say hi.
