Welcome to another issue of The Book Club Was Better newsletter! I thought I had already sent this last week!

how it works

We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month at 7pm to discuss a book and its adaptation.

Because there is a big author event happening on the same night, we will be meeting in BookPeople’s first floor conference room.

You get a 10% discount for buying the book at BookPeople, so let your cashier know it's for the book club.

current meeting

September 14 (tomorrow!!!): Rebecca

The 1940 Hitchcock version is available for free on the Internet Archive. Convenient!

next meeting

October 12: Frankenstein

We were picky about Rebecca, but next month is a choose your own adaptation. Consider the classic 1931 version starring Boris Karloff, Mel Brooks’s 1974 parody Young Frankenstein, or Guillermo Del Toro’s 2025 Frankenstein, just to name a few. You can even choose your own book: the more popular revised 1831 version or Mary Shelley’s original 1818 text.
