╰┈➤ˎˊ˗ It’s no secret that in the fashion industry, animal-based materials are the most commonly used for fashion pieces showcased on the runway and brands. "Divas need their furs!" (Martha Reeves).
The 1800s were a crucial time for animal-based clothing, as people became aware of the harm these materials bring to animals. In 2025, moves were made toward animal welfare. Actions such as banning animal-based materials and Hearst Magazines' prohibition of fur were largely driven by advocacy efforts, highlighting the growing importance of accountability in the industry and the market, which has led brands to move away from practices like fur farming.
During the 2025 New York Fashion Week (NYFW), a key annual event, it was announced that ‘animal fur will be prohibited at New York Fashion Week’ (Lucianne Tonti, 2025).
Looking ahead to 2026, public awareness continues to rise, emphasizing the transition from fur to alternative materials. Demands from consumers for full transparency from brands are increasing, reflecting the rise of ethical fashion.
have a great day everyone!!
