Update:
Today we are working at emptying PODS and moving back into the building. One of our PODS is missing and we have had someone else’s delivered to us. Please pray this gets sorted out. Thank you. If anyone is able to come out to help Stephen and Luke move furniture - even for an hour, we would be most grateful. We’re starting around 10AM here.

The basic concept of property taxes is to cover the expenses that municipalities incur for servicing their area of responsibility. Building and maintaining roads, sidewalks, parks, water and sewer systems, fire and ambulance services, and running all the programs that the public wants such as libraries, recreational facilities, etc., is expensive and the money has to come from somewhere. Town hall itself is a big expense. There’s a reason that property taxes are comparatively lower in the country: the county doesn’t provide nearly as many services to property owners. With that being said however, transparency is of the utmost importance and property owners should be given full access to a municipality’s financial reports and the municipality administrators and officials should be held to a very high level of accountability. I live in a condominium now and have to pay a condo fee, which is akin to a second property tax in a way. Every year the condo corporation provides me with a very detailed report of the money they’ve collected and exactly how that money was disbursed. Perhaps municipalities should be required to do the same for the property owners in their jurisdiction.

Re skills Saturday If people are growing hard neck garlic and have scapes but don't know what to do with them here is an easy project. Cut the scape and cut off the head and above - discard. Take the body of the scape, cut in 1" pieces, throw in a food processor with chopping blade. Add olive oil and process until it's a paste. Freeze in ice cube trays then pop into a freezer bag when frozen. Pop one in when making stews, soups, or stir fries for a great garlic taste.
I agree with Jim on property taxes. There has to be a way to pay for common expenses in municipalities. However, it should be a fair amount and transparent to tax payers.
