Two Terrific Books and Release News
Hi, Hungry Readers,
This is going to be a little packed in, but it’s all about books, so yay.
It’s May, which in the US is AANHPI Heritage Month, among other things. The Pacific Islanders in Publishing group put together a Pasifika reading challenge, since many lists focus only on the AA part of that.
I put some suggestions over on my blog here. (They do include me.)
One of the suggestions is also one of my two terrific books. (Bookshop links.)
Weird Fishes by Rae Mariz is a book about a squid Ceph who discovers the ocean is changing, and ends up teaming up with a seal Iliokai to try to pass this message to the ocean powers. It’s a story about changing climates, about the things we learn from folks who are different from us, and about how we all approach this world from our own lens. Content note: There is reference to sexual assault, capture, and imprisonment.
Grand Slam Romance by Ollie Hicks and Emma Oosterhous is a story about a softball league where some of the players are literal magic, and pretty much everyone is breaking the no kissing in softball rule. The first volume has a satisfying ending, but it is a series, so I expect relationships will continue to shift.
Okay, and one more thing. Eagle-eyed readers might have noticed, I put a new book up for pre-order. Yes, Lillian and Xavier’s story is ready to go for June. Links are mostly populated in all the places, if you want to preorder now. We’ll talk more about this story in June.
Okay, thanks for sticking through all of that. Happy reading!
