Two Terrific Books
Hey, Hungry Readers,
Since Bookstore Romance Day is tomorrow we are all romance today. If you need to find a local participating bookstore, tap that link. They are currently mostly USian, sorry to the non-USians. There are also virtual events starting tonight and running through Sunday. (Again, tap that link. Also, yeah, not getting paid for this. Just love book events.)
So, some books - with Bookshop links. Also, if bookshop ships to where you live, and you cannot be at a romance friendly bookstore this weekend, you can use bookshop to credit your fave romance bookstore with the sale.
We Could be Heroes by Phillip Ellis is a story about an actor in a superhero movie who meets a great guy one night in a bar on drag queen night. There’s a lot of tension around the risks of being an out actor (which Patrick is currently not) and parents who fail you in both obvious and subtle ways. But I really enjoyed the entire cast.
Four Eids and a Funeral by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé and Adiba Jaigirdar - Tiwa and Said were besties, but he went off to boarding school and now they are not, except they might both want to save the local Islamic center after it burns down. The story is cute and there is miscommunication, relatives plotting for and against them. It does - as the author note says, start with a funeral and a fire, but things - mostly - get better from there.
Happy reading!
