Reading Stats and Two Terrific Books
Hello there,
Happy 2024! I compiled my reading stats for 2023 in a super detailed post over on the blog, if you are into that.
I tend not to set reading goals, but I do enjoy tracking the reading.
And now for some books I enjoyed. Bookshop links included.
Maybe Baby by Kim Golden is a messy women's fiction that really worked for me. To be clear, the characters are messy, not the book. But the story of a woman who never felt part of the her partner's family, despite them sharing a household and seeks a child of her own, and then finds herself wildly attracted to a man she finds on her way to exploring sperm donors, worked for me. Yes, people put off conversations they desperately need to have, and yet, I was so invested in how things were going to turn out. It is part of a duology, so the story has a ending that is not entirely complete. Note: Contains cheating.
Caught in a Bad Fauxmance by Elle Gonzalez Rose, speaking of messy. What if your family has a feud with the folks in the summer cabin next door, but one of them asks you to be his fake date and you decide to do it but maybe he's um, not terrible, but your family still has to beat them in the summer games? Note: discussion of past parental death.
Have you read either of these? Would love to hear your thoughts.
