Books and Snow
Hello, Hungry Readers,
January tends to eat my brain a little, but we finally got some snow here in DC, which made being cold worth it. Sometimes I like to be thematic with my reading. Not always.
With the Olympics coming up, here’s some sportsy suggestions. Some of these I have mentioned before.
Bookshop links included.
Deanna Grey’s Team Players is about two hockey players, one from the men’s team and one from the women’s team who end up making a sex bet. He has to try being a one person guy for a few months and she has to try being a casual hookup person. You may be able to guess how that goes.
Wake Up Nat and Darcy by Kate Cochrane features two former Olympic hockey players (and also ex’s though most people don’t know that) who get teamed up to be the folks who show off how hard each Olympic sport is for the morning show crowd.
Non fiction, but Michael Waters’ The Other Olympians is a fascinating look into the history of gender testing in the Olympics.
And I know I’ve mentioned Tracey Richardson’s Delay of Game (Olympic hockey), Ruby Lang’s Hard Knocks (pro hockey), Rachel Spangler’s Edge of Glory (snowboarder and skiier), and Carli J.Corson’s It’s a Love/Skate Relationship (hockey player and figure skater) before, but they are all great choices. I am assuming you already know about Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series (which includes Heated Rivalry). I’ve also enjoyed Ari Baran’s penalty box series, though I need to catch up on it.
And, yes, I have a couple hockey romances myself.
