This month, the big new feature is title search.

Animate GIF showing off StoryTime Search features.
Look Ma, Search!

When you first open a room you’ll see that there are now three tabs across the top of the screen — backlog, drafts, and a magnifying glass. (If you click on Drafts it’ll hide Drafts and the input menu, letting you see the backlog full screen.)

Click that magnifying glass and you’ll see a search window.

Enter a string to see the subset of stories in the backlog that contain that string

Click on a story in the filter list and the backlog will scroll to that story.

We have some ideas about what problems this might be useful for, and would like to hear from anyone who uses it to better understand what all it's actually useful for. So, as always, feel free to get in touch!

Other Updates

You might notice that the emojis are gone. They varied in appearance per-platform, and were pretty ugly on Windows and Android. Let us know what you think of the new symbols!

We fixed an issue where creating an account with your e-mail in all UPPER CASE LETTERS could make it impossible to log into that account. StoryTime now explicitly downcases any e-mails before it sends them on to our identity provider, Stytch.

Fixed a bug where clicking the Create Room button with no name entered would cause all the rooms in the rooms list to disappear.

Next Up

We’re still looking for founding customers to help us shape the product. Right now, the people we’re talking with are interested in some policy documents and data access auditing stuff, and we’re interested in smoothing out our signup flow, which currently can leave people feeling stuck in a loop while they’re actually waiting for manual activation.

Also, we’re planning to put together a workshop on filling an empty backlog sometime mid-month. If you’re interested in this, be sure to write us; failing that, Jesse will definitely make noise about it on LinkedIn and Mastodon.

Until next time,

— Nat, Coby, and Jesse
