Soon to pull the plug for the holidays, here's a little recap of 2023 for Stories Without Endings. And a little holiday tip for you at the end!
I'm happy to say that it was a year filled with events and meeting new people. Working as an independent, it's fantastic to get out there once in a while, meeting both like-minded and different-minded people and sharing experience and opportunties.
First up was the first NoCode Denmark meetup where I was a panelist and part of discussing the now and the future of the web with all the new more readily available tools with a thriving community. Then the Webflow Community meetup for the Speed Build Challenge (competing locally with among others Riziki who went on the World finals and became second(!) it was tough competition, super fun none the less). The I was at the always well curated and so comfortable The Conference in Malmø enjoying new perspectives and creative kicks. And lastly the UX Healthcare Europe conference in Berlin, where I was invited as a speaker to talk about the two-sided UX of clinical trials and ForskningNu.
Besides meeting a bunch of great people at events, I also had the pleasure of having my first Stories Without Endings intern, Rune who helped out with analysis and research, and some great discussions about the core principles and the depths of UX design.
New websites and ongoing collaborations.
The year also brought a bunch of new Webflow websites to life
Datafair.org (I did the visual identity, design and implementation)
Arla Fonden: Børn Unge og Mad 2023 (Implementation and UX for Radius CPH)
Musik I Gentofte - (Implementation for Soundvenue Studio)
Jamesmachin.com (James' design, my implementation)
Mariemaribo.dk (My design and implementation)
Besides doing new websites, I'm still working on exciting projects with Kompas Kommunikation and on the ongoing Alumne community project for University College Copenhagen. Among other adjustments over the year to the Webflow implementation this year I rewired the sign up forms and registration settings to run thouhgr the automation platform Make, previosly know as Integromat. Like Zapier and IFTTT Make allows you to combine data flows and apis across various services, a cornerstone of the no-code movement, where connecting multiple platforms and service allows us as designers and developers to get quite big and complex projects up and running fast, without having to build everything from scratch.
And speaking of no-code, my favorite project ForskningNu is now soon to grow out the no-code platform Bubble with a huge upgrade on the way. Beside functioning extremely well on its own for a startup, ForskningNu got additional during the year, so the founder Benjamin have now started building a proper team to scale the platform and business. This also means that I'm now now taking more of an advising role in the project, and I'm happy to say that, even just following from the sideline, it's a thrill. Major news, still secret, is coming early next year! :)
Oh. Now for the promised holiday tip! Try out Pickaxe! It's a brilliant service, with a free starter option, for creating an AI that is based on content that you provide. This means you can upload documents, texts, point to websites etc. and have it answer questions based on those sources. Upload old university papers that you forgot what was about, and ask questions about it.
I wrote an article about how we can use services like Pickaxe to finally get the straight answers we have been looking for searching the internet.
Thank you. See you next year! :)
