starbreaker.org, syndicated syndicates material from my website at starbreaker.org. In particular, it syndicates entries from my grimoire. That means you'll get fiction, rants, poetastery, personal blogging, occasional lewdness, and more than a few bad jokes.
The prompt for this introduction suggests that I should explain why you should subscribe. The Devil’s honest truth is that you should not subscribe to this newsletter. Everything in it comes from my website’s RSS feed. You should use that instead, if you are comfortable with web feeds.
You should only subscribe to starbreaker.org, syndicated if you would rather have yet another newsletter spamming your inbox instead of learning how to use a feed reader, because the plain fact is that I have a day job that pays almost a hundred grand per year and I don't expect to get enough subscriptions to let me quit my day job.
Subscription is currently free, but once I’ve gotten everything set up to my satisfaction I will be moving to a paid plan and charging $10/year. Consider this a convenience fee for those unwilling or unable to use feeds. Furthermore, I think you'll find that $10/year is a better deal than most people on Substack offer, since they tend to charge at least $5-10/month, which can work out to $60-120/year for a single newsletter - which in this economy is ridiculous.
Also, unlike some people on Substack, I will swear by the river Styx to never, ever, go Nazi. Nor will I willingly promote scientific racism, misogyny, or ideologies that stigmatize LGBT people, because even assholes like me have standards.
If, however, you are a conservative you will most likely find plenty of cause for offense in my writings. If that proves the case, take it to the Lord in prayer, or dial my complaint line at 1-800-B-DAMNED.
The usual disclaimers apply: I am not a journalist, or any kind of expert. All opinions are my own, and not representative of my employers' views or those of their clients or partners. Nothing I publish should be considered factual unless independently verified. I am biased to Hell and back against authoritarianism in all its manifestations.
If you're still reading this, you might be curious as to why I'm only planning to charge $10/year. I'd suggest reading with greater care, but instead here are the main points: at this rate, I'd need at least 10,000 subscribers/year to replace my day job. Probably more like 15,000 since I would no longer be able to get employer-provided health insurance as a pre-tax deduction. I don't expect to get that many subscribers, if I get any at all, so I see no reason to charge more than $10/year for material a computer-literate person could get for free.
