Welcome to Stanza Break, dispatches on poetry in translation and books outside of a publicity cycle. The U.S. publishing and publicity cycle is relentless and this newsletter is my very small push against the pressure of the new, as well as my small way of critiquing the hegemony of U.S. poetry. Meaning: I like to read poetry in translation and books that are more than a year or two old. Chances are I’ll write about a new book not in translation now and then, too, if I think there should be more coverage of it.
Emails are occasional, with a goal of eight or so per year.
