This week in Stamford: Elvis closes out at Curtain Call, an Oktoberfest crawl takes four downtown bars, and the city puts a number on the school rebuild

Three chances left to see All Shook Up before Curtain Call strikes the set, a bar crawl that starts at four in the afternoon because Oktoberfest has never respected a normal schedule, and a farmers market with about three Saturdays left in its season. The Palace is dark this weekend, so downtown's energy is spread across smaller rooms than usual. That is not a bad thing.

Best for families this week: the Nissen Carousel runs both weekend mornings at Mill River Park, and Fall Sunday Funday there is free. Children 18 and under get into All Shook Up for $28.

"All Shook Up" closes at Curtain Call, Kweskin Theatre, 1349 Newfield Avenue, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM. The Elvis jukebox musical has been running since September 11 and Saturday September 26 is the last night. It is the loud, unsubtle kind of show a community theatre does well, and Curtain Call has been doing this in Stamford longer than any other company in the city. Early bird pricing runs through September 30: $46 for adults, $41 for seniors 65 and up, $28 for children 18 and under, all including the online service fee. Thursday is ThriftyThursday at $38. Stamford put a number on the school rebuild this week, and the number is $750 million. Katherine LoBalbo, the city's director of school construction, walked through the whole program Tuesday: Westhill High School at $446 million opening in 2029, a $130 million Roxbury K-8 opening in 2028, a Lower New School for kindergarten through fourth grade in 2029-30 and an Upper New School for fifth through eighth in 2031. Separately, $40 to $45 million is going into buildings that are staying: a $14 million window, roof and accessibility project at Julia A. Stark, $5 million for air quality at Rippowam, $3.6 million for roof and insulation work at Davenport Ridge, $450,000 for solar at Strawberry Hill, and $750,000 each for turf at Westhill and the upper soccer field at Stamford High. Stamford Police will run a gun buyback and gun safe giveaway on Saturday, October 3, at 725 Bedford Street, 10 AM to 1 PM. It is part of the statewide program and it is voluntary and no questions asked. A foot pursuit near Richmond Hill Avenue on Tuesday ended without an arrest. A patrol officer spotted a wanted individual at Richmond Hill Avenue and Rose Park Avenue and chased them into a relative's house.
