I thought July was going to be a quiet month. We’re all entitled to our delusions.

Fun fact: beside me is a plaque that dedicates this park to “the children of San Diego.” I hope that now includes the shark.

Batman: Caped Crusader, season 2 goes live on Amazon today! It’s Batman; it’s noir; it’s definitely not for kids.

I wrote two episodes, and it was such an honor to be part of this amazing team. Everyone did amazing work from start to finish, and I’m so excited that we finally get to share our work with the world.

Aside from a preview screening of the season premiere at San Diego Comic-Con, I haven’t seen any of these episodes since they were in animatics. Even without color, music, sound effects or final animation, they were riveting, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.

If you’re a Batman fan, you’re in for a treat.

What I’m Reading and Watching

This month I fell down an Internet rabbit-hole watching a series of lectures by Dr. Sarah Paine, historian and professor emerita at the US Naval War College, about grand strategy, empires, and global geo-politics.

Aside from that, I’m still reading The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. The promised detective has finally appeared and Sergeant Cuff—with his mysterious whistling and rose garden fixations—does not disappoint.
