Reflection # 46 Learning to Let Go
Tricia, Thank you. -D
Never let go of poetry! – D
...and perhaps the most important learning in letting go is to see what truly matters! -H
Thanks so much for this, just what I needed! I hope that you are well and survived the winter without too much difficulty. –K
Thank you for this reflection, Patricia! I'm always learning and appreciate reflecting on lived experiences. Take care. -M
Life is like a slinky. We move forward, while often repeating the past and learning something new from it. --F
Trish, This may be my favorite yet. We just got back from Florida but would love to get together with you guys soon. In peace, --J
Reflection #47 Holding the Field
I find people want me to do more than I have the energy, time, or interest. And people don’t easily accept “I just don’t want to do that.” (For example, I have been asked several times to play bells for worship, which I have no interest in learning whatsoever. I also now find the sound of bells that close to me an actual irritant.) It seems like becoming older has included the assumption that I should do whatever someone asks. Getting older has not made me want to do everyone else’s bidding.–F
Relinquishing control is indeed hard work -S
Reflection #48 Death and Love
Love this. Poignant, with hope and abiding love. –F
Beautiful Trish. Your experience helped to shape you into the compassionate person you are now. Beauty for ashes. -J
This year is 25 years since my former niece by marriage, Andrea Yates, drowned the 5 children of she & my nephew. There is a hole that never fills up, yet the presence of God remains. -F
Hi, Tricia - I'm C’s friend -- I wanted you to know that this message really meant a lot to me today. I'm really struggling with getting/being old. Last week, on the TV show The Pitt, one of the plots involved an elderly couple - the wife was the patient, but her husband had these words of wisdom for the young doctors - he said, "we old folks know what it's like to be young, you young folks don't know what it's like to be old." Such a simple observation, but I've been thinking about it all week. I explored your web page a bit just a little while ago and I bought your prayer book. -C |
Excellent - especially the reminder that "this too is holy ground." -F
Hi Tricia, Long time no see or hear.....my apologies! But...I wanted to react/respond to your very personal and powerful Reflection on Death. It brought back all the early memories when I heard of your loss...and found myself at the front door of the most amazing young women I had (or have) ever met! Your strength, powerful and deep spiritual anchor...along with the smiling/adventuring personality that makes anyone you touch experience the joy of living.Thank You for continuing to give me the best of my life! Love You,--D
Are you going to publish a book of your reflections? - A
