Reflection #57 Harvesting

Reflection #57 Harvesting
Next week I’ll attend a gentle gathering,
a ceremony, of harvesting.
a moment to honor what has been carried
from this season of my life into the next.
Harvesting is the quiet revisiting
of all our lived and gathered fruits—
the work once given with open hands,
the love rooted in family and friendship.
It’s remembering colleagues encouraged,
neighbors welcomed, communities served,
and learning, beneath every accomplishment,
to cherish the Spirit living within us.
In harvesting we remember abundance,
that much has been given to us,
the goodness we have yet to offer,
simply through the grace of our presence.
So, I practice harvesting each day—
pausing before trees, clouds, birdsong, light,
speaking gratitude aloud for people and places,
for the earth and whatever rises to mind.
And somehow, I walk more lightly,
with greater peace and softer footsteps,
carrying a kinder heart within,
remembering to take time to harvest.
