School of Block: Newsletter, January 8th
Hi everyone,
Blockchain projects are ramping up for the year and here are some of the most interesting ones for you to keep an eye on in 2020.
-
Decentralized Storage: Centralized cloud storage is projected to give away more and more of its market share to decentralized, blockchain storage options. The top project to watch in this area is Filecoin, a decentralized blockchain storage network, which has amazingly, not only posted their aggressive timeline publicly, but has been consistently delivering on these goals. The raised over 200M dollars in 2017 and we are now awaiting the launch of the mainnet this March! https://filecoin.io

Healthcare: This industry uses notoriously outdated systems, from siloed medical records to a lack of standards between hospitals and healthcare organizations. Companies like Solve Care are tackling problems in the space by trying to solve issues with the amount of administrative overhead in providing health benefits and medical care. Medicalchain is also working to give people full access to their own health data in a universal system where information can easily viewed and shared.
Bonus: Blockchain is making it's way into the Australian government, which was formerly against the idea of using blockchain technologies. It now says that they might there might be valuable use cases in areas prone to fraud and or in need of better supply chain management.
