If you shop at a grocery store, you are probably benefiting from blockchain technologies being used to verify and track food all the way from the farm to the table. With the blockchain-based Food Trust network, consumers with ethical or health-related concerns can find out exactly where ingredients come from and how they are processed. Read more here.

With over 26 billion IoT devices currently in use and collecting massive amounts of user data, IoT security is perhaps the number one priority for the industry. To solve IoT security and trust issues, Blockchain technologies are currently being developed that allow devices to interact at scale.

Lots of research and development resources are being put into using blockchain to detect fake news. While the technology is still relative new, Hyperledger is currently being tested for use to detect fake articles and videos by news companies like the NY Times. Gartner predicts that, "By 2023, up to 30% of world news and video content will be authenticated as real by blockchain, countering deep fake technology."
