You know when you’re playing a game, and something just clicks? And you’re like - that’s so interesting. I’m going to think about this detail and what it means for the rest of the day.
If you’re a writer (hi, I'm Ruth Cassidy, I’m a writer!) sometimes those details make whole pieces by themselves. A lot of the time, though, you just have to sit with them to think about them - until the next moment something clicks.
Saturshot is an intentionally scattershot collection of those small moments for games criticism that otherwise wouldn’t see the light of day. I play a lot of games, and you’ll likely not see a repeat two Saturdays in a row! Expect to see me bounce thoughts around throwaway lines of text, curious bits of design, and my recent foray into strategy games.
Not every game I play can be a common experience with everybody else! Which is why I’ll also link out to interesting pieces I’ve read, games I’m following, cat pictures and brownie recipes. I do not promise you consistency, but I hopefully promise you something interesting in your inbox.
Saturshot was named by @QuipsLawrence, who is infinitely better at smushing words together than me.
