Recipe: Sarah's Banaynay Bars

hand lettered title that reads "I Think You're Sauceome" with a cartoon drawing of a peapod

So I really have no excuse for sharing a frozen recipe in mid February, except that I love these bars enough that I make them year round, and yes, there are some in my freezer right now, and yes, I had one earlier today. It’s 32°F in Chicago today but the heart wants what it wants.

I was thinking about this recipe, which I made again earlier this week, which I make at least 2 or 3 times a month. I came up with it because I like this old banana “ice cream” recipe I found, but it doesn’t store well, so you can’t make a large batch of it. And I realized I drew a whole comic about that banana ice cream back in 2011! So here’s that. It makes for an interesting comparison! I am more comfortable drawing myself now, but no more comfortable drawing kitchen equipment. >_<

Let’s Make Banana Ice Cream FIRST: peel and slice a banana. Put it in the freezer for an hour or two. Put the frozen slices in a blender or food processor. Pulse until it goes from crumbs to smooth and creamy. Mix in some peanut butter or chocolate chips - or both! Enjoy!
AUGH I hate looking at my old art

Anyway! I promise future recipes will be more seasonally appropriate, and will not involve the hand mixer. :)

What I’m into lately:

• Listening to the audiobook for Remember You Will Die by Eden Robins. It’s a whole novel told in obituaries, and it’s about grief, life, technology, art… It’s deeply weird but it’s also deeply thoughtful and charming and I’m really enjoying it.

What Toki’s into lately: Blocking the heat from my space heater the minute I turn it on.

A fluffy orange and white cat blocking a space heater with his body.
Surely the space heater is meant for the young prince, and not for his mother’s cold feet.
