It's My Book Birthday!
Let's Make Cocktails! is finally out today!

It’s finally here! After two years of work and waiting, Let’s Make Cocktails! is out today. If you’re reading this on pub day:
I will be at Billy Sunday cocktail bar tonight, 4/7 from 6-8pm,
I will be at Lot’sa this Friday, 4/10 from 4-7pm,
and I’ll be at Challengers Comics this Saturday, 4/11 from 5-8pm.
More Event Dates Here!

I have found myself really emotional about this book coming out, because this one is entirely my own. I love collaborating with people too! But it’s a different experience to be the only person in charge of shaping a project from start to finish. I’m overjoyed to share it with the world. I am also terrified to share it with the world.
It’s taken me many years to get to this point with my comics, but I can’t think of anything better. I get to spend my day drawing things! I get to share my drawings with people! And sometimes people send me photos of food they’ve made, using my drawings as a guide! That’s the best part.
Thank you for reading, and for hanging out with me as I brought this book into the world. I hope you like this one! And I hope I get to draw more of these for you. And if you’d like to come say hello and let me deface a book or two for you, here’s that list of events again. I’d love to see you. :)

What I’m Into Lately:
In my ongoing experiment where I’ve been asking my favorite people to recommend their favorite books, I have been reading Geek Love by Katherine Dunn, recommended by Niles, my partner of 20+ years. I don’t know how I never picked this book up before – all of my favorite people were reading it in the late 90s! I can’t remember the last time I read a book that affected me so deeply. I don’t even know how to tell you what it’s about, because every synopsis I’ve read has been absurdly insufficient. It’s about a circus family, but it’s also about how hard it is to find your own worth when you come from a deeply warped and toxic family dynamic. And it’s about cults, and it’s about fascism, and conformity and weirdness and beauty and kindness and cruelty and love. I was not expecting to find myself identifying so strongly with the main character! This book tore me apart in the best way. It’s honestly unlike anything I’ve ever read.
What Toki’s Into Lately:
Still claiming any box that ends up on the floor for even a second! I have to wait until he loses interest to tidy them up.
