C2E2 2025, and excavating some old artwork

My first time tabling at C2E2 was incredible. I talked to so many wonderful and amazing people! I sold many books and prints! I found countless new artists to follow!
I am elated and also exhausted and all my muscles hate me. I did not have time or energy to draw you a new comic, but while I was unpacking and reorganizing things post-show, I happened upon an old sketchbook comic that I made when Toki was just a little bean. I don’t think I ever shared this anywhere!

If you have ever wondered why I am obsessed with the little Child Emperor, it’s because he’s always been this impossibly cute and snuggly and perfect. He often wakes me up by purring very loudly or very gently pawing my face, and then cuddles up in my arms like a damned plushie. It’s less comfortable now that he’s a full grown cat, but still very very cute.
Some of the other random things I found while reorganizing:

I think I hid these all away because I tend to get very embarrassed about my old artwork! But you know what? I’m going to start bringing these to shows. Do you need a small watercolor painting of Peter Davison as the 4th Doctor Who? or one (or many) small drawings of Albert Calavicci? Come find me. :)
Upcoming Things:
• I can’t believe I keep forgetting to mention this! I will be at the Art Mart at Federales Logan Square on May 3. If you are in Chicago, come stop by! There will be some very talented artists, and $1 from every margarita will go to The Center for Changing Lives. (Maybe in the past I have joked that ACAB includes Federales Tacos, but this will be a pretty fun and cool event.)
• Also, I will be at CAKE Chicago this year! They haven’t sent out notices yet about tables or anything, but I figure even if I’m not exhibiting, I’ll definitely be there walking around. :)
Hey Sarah, how’s the book going:
Only 8 pages left to thumbnail! C2E2 set me back a bit, but I should be done with thumbnails by the end of the week, fingers crossed.
What I’m into lately:
Sleep!! I definitely need to recover after C2E2, my old bones are very tired. Other than that, the audiobook of We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer is creeping me out very nicely.
What Toki’s into lately:
Toki’s very favorite toy is if a shiny thing has caught the light and is reflecting it on a wall. It is relatively cheap as cat toys go, but it does require that the sun be shining.
