Boss Bites in Baltimore

hand lettered title that reads "I Think You're Sauceome" with a cartoon drawing of a peapod

Hey friends! I just had an absolutely amazing weekend at the Small Press Expo. Thanks so much to everyone who came out for books and prints this year!! It was a really fab show and I got to meet and chat with so many amazing artists. And as an added treat, as long as I’m in Maryland, I’m spending a few days post-show in Baltimore with my dear friends Blanca and Steve. As I write this, I’ve been here about 24 hours, and I’ve already eaten a ton of incredible food. Below: Vivian’s, Ekiben, and Clark Burger.

Boss Bites in Baltimore
Vivian's: Miso Caramel Latte, the "Classic with two eggs, pork sausage, cheddar on a brioche bun
Ekiben
Spicy neighborhood bird bowl with sambal mayo and pickled vegetables
Clark Burger
"charmer" burger with blue cheese and smoked bacon, loaded poutine

We’ve also had a lovely dinner at the Poe-themed Annabelle Lee Tavern, some fabulous ice cream at Bmore Licks, as well as a really fun afternoon at Bazaar and the Witch Board Museum. We’ve been wandering around Patterson Park and Hampden and Highlandtown and folks, Baltimore is just so cool!! The architecture, the parks, the food, the shops, the people – I love everything! I can’t remember the last time I was this charmed by a city. I can’t wait to see what else it has to offer.

What I’m Into Lately:

Between travel and working on the new cookie book, I haven’t had a ton of time for reading or playing anything new. I tend to binge podcasts while I’m traveling, and lately I’ve been burning through episodes of Pro Publica’s Paper Trail, a fascinating series of deeply researched investigative journalism covering a ton of subjects; everything from forever chemicals to international spies to religious cults. I highly recommend this one about the secret disturbing reasons behind why immigration agents violently raided an apartment building full of children and families in Chicago last year.

What Toki’s Into Lately:

I don’t know!! It’s so hard to be away from Toki while I’m traveling. But I have been spending some quality time with Blanca and Steve’s cats, including this fiercely beautiful lady, Chloe, who is wondering why you’re not playing fetch with her right the heck now.
