When did your team run the last retro?

We had one last week. We appreciated one another, celebrated the goods, discussed the bads, and came up with a crisp list of actionables.

Have you ever coded a solution to a painful problem of yours?

Shockingly, I’ve never done so.

Some time ago, I wrote From Silly Questions to Innovation. You may have noticed I'm a maverick, and I like to come up with controversial ideas when solving problems. As a matter of fact, I open the post with the following story:

Ages ago I was exposed to the fast food restaurant technique. It goes something like this: when colleagues are endlessly discussing where to eat, just propose going to a cheap, bad and dirty restaurant. It removes the blocker and re-aligns people towards a resolution. And nope, normally fast food is not the pick.

What's in your opinion the most crucial factor in remote work?

I believe asynchronicity is a big one. Having a well-specified area of responsibility and autonomy on how to perform a task is a killer combo.

Recently, I enjoyed The Design Of Everyday Things. In the book, the author highlights the seven fundamental design principles:

You may say awful. That would be a great response. Except, it would be the answer to a different question:

Have you been good in twenty-twenty?

In Italy, I usually had to wait to see if the Befana brought me coal. Luckily, I live in Poland, where the answer comes earlier!

How are your holidays going?

It's kinda strange for me this year. I'm used to spending the second part of December in Italy, immersed in the same, repeating, and comforting traditions. Instead, I'm in Krakow.

When I started the PinkLetter, I decided to write the newsletter I wished I could subscribe to. I wanted to escape all the noise and amplify only the signal. In the words of Sum 41, I wanted All Killer No Filler.

I'm not a huge fan of Christmas. However, the 25th of December has always been a day I looked forward to.
