Ciao!
How was your week?
I’m exhausted but satisfied with mine.
This week, I want to talk to you about knowledge transfers, adjacent skills, time travelling in Haskell, and HTTPS.
10 Knowledge Transfers that Make me Thrive with Legacy Code — I don’t have to relearn anything from scratch; I only transfer knowledge over from past experiences and fill the blanks.
Adjacent skills: how to widen your career perspective by Anne-Laure Le Cunff — Gone are the days of linear career trajectories. Most people will live several work lives, and careers have become increasingly mobile. While deep expertise in a given domain can lead to a successful career, it is also a more rigid approach which may limit the number of lateral opportunities. In contrast, adjacent skills can open doors and foster serendipity in a career. (Riccardo: lateral opportunities sound cool, don’t they?)
Time travel in Haskell for dummies by Csongor Kiss — Browsing Hackage the other day, I came across the Tardis Monad. Reading its description, it turns out that the Tardis monad is capable of sending state back in time. Yep. Back in time. (Riccardo: I’ll admit I read it five or six times. It’s a mind bending one.)
How HTTPS works …in a comic! 🌈 🎉 🍕 by Dnsimple — Have you ever wondered why a green lock icon appears on your browser URL bar? And why is it important? We did too, and this comic is for you! (Riccardo: I thought you could use something fun to recover for the previous article!)
By the way, do you have a blog? Please share. Just hit reply to this email, and send over the link!
Thanks for spending some time reading with me. Talk to you soon.
Yours truly,
Riccardo.
