Welcome to my PinkLetter. A short, weekly, technology-agnostic, and pink newsletter where we cultivate timeless skills in web development.

My Ramblings This Week

Did you ever participate in the Global Day of Code Retreat?

It’s a wonderful event, and I’m happy to announce that GDCR Krakow will happen on November 5, Saturday.

Yours truly and four more wonderful folks met yesterday for an early morning kickoff meeting. We were prepared to spend two hours drinking liters of coffee, but it turned out there was no need for it: we did such a wonderful job with GDCR in 2019 that we just ended up duplicating the Trello board.

We are planning to invest a lot of energy into diversity and inclusion, though. That’s why I’m glad to be co-organizing with people who care about the topic, and I’m planning to remove myself as much as possible from the picture.

I’ll keep you up-to-date and share more details soon. In the meanwhile, please send us good vibes and some help!

๐Ÿ“• A Minimum Viable Product Is Not a Product, It’s a Process by Jim Brikman

No matter how good you are, some of your assumptions will be wrong. The problem is, you don’t know which ones.

Riccardo: One of the best explanation of MVP I ever read.

๐Ÿ“ผ A Taste of Roc by Richard Feldman

Roc is a new purely functional programming language built for speed and ergonomics. Itโ€™s still a work in progress, but itโ€™s far enough along to be ready for an introductory tutorial and demo of how the language feels to use.

Riccardo: Elm for the backend. Take my money, Richard!

๐Ÿ“• Learn how DNS and HTTPS work by DNSimple

We love comics. We love to read them. We love to make them. We think it’s a great format for explaining complex subjects, like how DNS and HTTPS work.

Riccardo: If your mom ever asks about how DNS works, this is how you explain it.
