Our next event will be next Saturday, September 12th, 2026 at Thomas Jefferson Library.

Here’s the library address:

For transit: This library is served by the WMATA F60/F61 routes.

Countdown to International Repair Day: 38 days away

“International Repair Day” is observed every year on the 3rd Saturday in October. This year, it will be Saturday, October 17th, 2026.

Navy blue lines on a white background, with navy blue and orange text. At the top in block letters is the "Repair Cafe" logo. Below, text reads, "International Repair Day! Free repairs and consultations, Teddy Bear Repair Clinic (The Learning Quest), Vegetable gardening workshop. Saturday, October 17th, 2026. 120 Cherry Street SE, Vienna, VA 22180."

We’ll be doing our normal repairing that day, but we’ll also have a presentation on vegetable gardening, another great way to improve resilience and learn new things. You can learn more about the Town of Vienna’s Community Learning Garden here: https://www.viennava.gov/Town-Departments/Parks-and-Recreation/Outdoor-Facilities-Parks-and-Trails

We’ll also be joined by our friends at The Learning Quest to host a Teddy Bear Repair Clinic! The repairers at this table are dedicated to helping furry, fluffy, and other fabric friends feel a little better. Visitors of all ages are welcome to bring stuffed friends to get a patch, stitch, or other assistance, at any time during our opening hours that day, 12:30pm-2:30pm on October 17th. To learn more about the Learning Quest, visit their website, here: https://www.thelearningquest.org/

As always, please note that we cannot purchase replacement parts. If a button or other piece is missing, please bring a replacement with you and we’ll help you install it. If you still have the piece, you can bring it and we’ll see what we can do.

We are also still in need of Repairers for International Repair Day, in all specialties: sewing, jewelry, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, knife sharpening, and more. If you’d like to work with us, here’s our Volunteer Fairfax signup: https://volunteernow.volunteerfairfax.org/custom/1427/opp_details/191476

More news on November, December and other events coming soon, in the next issue of the newsletter. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you at Repair Cafe!
