Success in STEM and healthcare is not luck

Hello ReMix Community,

We’re grateful to be building this community of changemakers with you!

March has been a month focused on growth, visibility, and building momentum.

As we continue laying the foundation for ReMix Science and Care, one theme has stood out across our work this month, succeeding in STEM and healthcare is not just about hard work or luck. It is about access, mentorship, and opportunity.

Throughout March, we highlighted Women’s History Month, National Physicians Week, and National Doctors’ Day, recognizing the individuals who are shaping healthcare today and the students working toward those same paths.

For many students, the journey into STEM and healthcare includes barriers that are often unseen, financial constraints, limited mentorship, lack of exposure, and systemic inequities. These challenges do not reflect talent or potential, but they can influence who has the opportunity to succeed.

At ReMix Science and Care, our mission is to help bridge those gaps. Through future microgrants, mentorship, and community building, we are working to create pathways that make careers in STEM and healthcare more accessible.

Because success should not depend on luck, it should depend on opportunity.

Our Wins

March brought meaningful progress as we continue building ReMix Science and Care.

We are actively preparing for our Nonprofit of the Game partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 17. This includes developing outreach materials, preparing swag, and building opportunities to engage with the community.

We have also seen continued growth across our social media platforms, with increased engagement and new supporters joining our mission.

Additionally, we continued developing infrastructure for our future microgrant and mentorship programs, ensuring that when we launch, we are doing so thoughtfully and sustainably.

Momentum is growing, and we are excited about what lies ahead.

We are also continuing to apply for grants and explore additional funding opportunities to support our future programs.

Newsletter subscribers will be the first to know about:

  • Microgrant program updates

  • Program launches

  • Potential pivots and growth opportunities

  • Upcoming events and initiatives

As always, we are focused on building thoughtfully and sustainably while keeping our community informed along the way.

This newsletter will be sent on the last day of each month, and we hope it becomes a space for transparency, encouragement, and shared momentum.

Thank you for being here and for supporting ReMix Science & Care from the very beginning. We’re honored to have you on this journey with us.

P.S. A special treat for our email subscribers! The first 5 people to DM us on instagram (@remixscienceandcare) what they are most excited for this spring will get up to 3 tickets to the Pirates Game on April 17th!
