Queer Art Club May
Hello all,
Queer art club is back, on a slightly earlier date this month, on Saturday 2nd May 12-2pm in Butler Gallery’s Learning Centre.
Our artist this month is Roibí O Rua and the theme will be collage!
As always, if you would like a space, reply here or email queerartclubkilkenny@gmail.com. Spaces are limited to 12 participants.
Roibí O Rua a multimedia artist that utilises collage, prose, animation, illustration, music and digital media.
Her work manifests as an archive of worldbuilding exercises that explore Trans Culture, both contemporary and ancient, and the human experience through a queer lens.
Hailing from a background of Queer Club Culture and the Irish Working Class, paired with a love for all things Cyber, Roibí’s work refers to aesthetics of irishness, the club, revolution, early internet and all things queer.
Her work has been exhibited as part of EVA International, The RDS Visual Arts Awards, Breaking the Patterns Lisboa and Full Stack Feminism in Digital Humanities at the University of Sussex. Her sonic work has been performed at the National Concert Hall, Smock Alley Theatre and various club nights in Ireland and afar.
This workshop will:
Provide a space for participants to play with created and found material
Provoke participants into considering ideas that matter to them and how to represent that visually
Encourage participants to develop a visual language to express themselves
Thanks!
Ruth, Queer Art Club
