Anthropic's $1.5B 'Ode' bets on implementation, not models

Plus: Anthropic lines up a $965B IPO, and Kimi K3 open weights land July 27.

JULY 17TH, 2026 · BY JONATHAN HILDEBRANDT

Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman and Friedman launched Ode with Anthropic on July 15: $1.5B in committed capital and 100 engineers (over half former technical founders) who embed Claude-based teams inside big companies and stay on the hook for the outcome. Investors include Goldman Sachs, Sequoia, GIC, and Apollo. CEO Chris Taylor wants a "trillion-dollar company someday." First targets: financial services, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, software.

Why it matters. Anthropic now competes with Deloitte and Accenture at the implementation layer, where the margins and the lock-in live. If you build on Claude, that expertise just gained a named buyer.
