Are you a lunatic?
Good evening 🌚 fellow moon lovers,
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to release some of the energy that I brought into May. Because of numerous vet visits and kitten health scares, I’m holding on to a scarcity mindset that I simply do not appreciate.
Love for Lil Bit
Lil Bit, the mama of the five kittens, has been gone since Monday of this week. We can’t imagine she abandoned her babies because she seemed healthy and (although slightly tired) happy. Her movements were pretty predictable, so we are assuming that her leaving was not by her choice. I can’t begin to tell you the level of sadness we feel at her departure. She was a sweet baby and we will miss her tiny meows.
Because of these events, there won’t be another podcast episode until June and y’all will be the first to know when it drops.
This spring has made me feel a little… loony.
Fun fact: By the 16th century (and probably earlier), people believed the moon severely impacted a person’s health. Doctors thought several diseases and afflictions, including epilepsy, were triggered by the moon.
The term “Lunatic” is outdated and offensive, especially in mental health circles.
I suggest we reclaim it to describe someone who simply loves the moon. Thoughts?
Ritual for the New Moon, May 16th
Fill up a jar of water (a mason jar will do) and seal it. Leave it outside during the new moon (Saturday, May 16th). Say a lil prayer, recite your favorite quote or poem about letting go or staying centered.
Here’s one I wrote:
I stand, barefoot at twilight, on a mossy corner of our yard. I count my toes with my fingers, one through ten. I slowly breathe in and out, again and again. There is a new moon rising, her shoulders cloaked in potential and I welcome the blank slate. If the month of May is less magic and more mayhem, I will use the glittering stars to light my way forward. I will use the shadows along my path as sacred places to set my intentions. I will ground myself in the darkness to prepare for the full force of the light that will find me when I am ready to be found.
Reuse your moon water however you would like: drink it to cleanse your inner being, use it on new plants, cleanse your doorstep for new beginnings. Save it for a rainy day 🌧️
Moon rituals too woo woo for you?
Write down something you’ve been holding onto (a regret, something that makes you angry, or sad) and burn it or rip it into tiny pieces and throw it away. Say “I release this feeling to the universe” and physically shake/wipe your hands to complete the release ritual.
Thankfully, my friends and family remind me in big and small ways that I am not alone.
Thanks for being here,
❤️🔥 Catherine
