So, we’ve passed the midpoint of this year....
I owe everyone a check-in
100 rejections…
So far, I’ve only managed to get 21 rejections. That means that I haven’t been applying enough, or that I need to expand my application search. I probably need to refine that goal, so maybe 50 instead of 100? I’d like to set a tangible number and to hit it at the end of the year. I’ll think some more on that.
Upcoming Zine Fest!

So the Paper Plains Zine Fest I spoke about last time- I’m excited to say that I was accepted as a vendor, so I’ll be visiting Lawrence, Kansas, this coming Labor Day weekend. Now comes the exciting part: figuring out what I’m going to table with, and I have some ideas.
One thing about tabling at any art or zine fair is that you have quite a bit of downtime to talk with your tablemate and other artists around you, or to browse everyone else’s art/publications and buy or make trade arrangements.
This year’s Dallas Art Book Fair, I picked up an interesting item:

This little booklet was quite the cure for my idle hands during the book fair, and I took full advantage, jotting down any and every idea, no matter how small, of possible zines that I could make in the future (that I might start…and if I start, I might finish…)

I’m going to pick a couple of ideas from the 28 I wrote out, and make them before the fest! I feel like that’s a nice short-term goal. Also, this booklet will make a nice companion for years to come! I’m looking forward to filling all the pages…
Some Recent Exhibitions
In May, this photo was part of two separate exhibitions:

Ether/Light at the eclectika in Irving, Texas

Color, at the Decode Gallery in Tucson, Arizona.

And since I couldn’t be in Tucson, the gallery sent some photos of the exhibition:

And currently I have a photograph in the Hecho en Dallas exhibition at the Latino Cultural Center:

I missed the opening reception, but I was able to visit the exhibition this week to check it out:
