Write poems with me TOMORROW at the Beacon Art Show

Beacon Art Show Poetry Workshop and Performance TOMORROW at 10am

Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop: Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10am-12pm Pacific
Follow-Up Reading: Sunday, March 16 at 2:00 PM
Location: San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church, 1515 Fredericks St.

A painting of a cute dog on a leash, standing in the portion of the beach where the sand is wet and hard, where the tide has gone out. The doggos back feet are planted wide, holding their space, as the pink leash stretches off to the upper right. The shadows are very nice in this piece, looking like late morning. Off the canvas to the upper right, I presume the dogwalker is there, as you can see their shadow too.

Tomorrow, I will be hosting the annual United Methodist Beacon Art Show Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop. Every year, a poets gather to write poems inspired by pieces of art from the show (also viewable online at BeaconArtShow.com).

Whoever would like to participate can send me the poems and I produce a zine with each poem paired with the art that inspired it.

Two weekends later, on Sunday 3/16, we will all meet for an open reading of the poems written through the workshop. The church is located off Grand at 1515 Fredericks St. in San Luis Obispo.

It’s always a fun and inspiring time, and I’m honored to be hosting the poetry workshop and reading for my second year, succeeding Jeanie Greensfelder and Glenna Luschei. Join us!
