This Saturday 3/21 at 2pm, there will be an open reading of the ekphrastic poems written for the annual United Methodist Beacon Art Show. We are having the reading in the gallery at the SLO United Methodist Church, located at 1515 Fredericks St. in San Luis Obispo.

Every year, poets gather to write poems inspired by pieces of art from the show (also currently viewable online at BeaconArtShow.com). The gallery is open for public viewing Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 4 PM. This year’s theme was “DEI Through Art: diversity, equity, inclusiveness.”

It’s always a fun and inspiring time, and I’m honored to host the reading for my third year, succeeding Jeanie Greensfelder and Glenna Luschei. Join us!

If you have known or appreciated the work of our former Poet Laureate Marguerite Costigan, you have the opportunity to let her know. Her Parkinsons has reached stage 4 and she needed a higher level of care and has moved to care facility. This is, of course a hard transition and it would cheer her to receive notes, poems, photos or artwork, or if you know her, visits if you are able.
