tour diary: off day, actually
2:59 PM (central time). last night we played in pensacola, florida, at the handle bar - a beautiful bar that combined beach dive bar with small independent venue. driving from georgia we stopped for lunch at bucc-ee’s with rat palace, hit a sudden storm, and arrived with that uniquely warm feeling that comes when you know you’re going to have a good night with your friends without much effort. not one of the girly-pops wore any makeup and we all shared pitchers of beer and fried pickles before the show.
though it was rat palace’s last show with us it was a celebration not only of actually accomplishing touring - a thing we’ve set out to do together for a year, but also the intimate friendship that comes with promise of future collaboration and partnership: more tours, more shows (literally our EP release show at the sultan room on april 18th), more music (a co-written / co-produced christmas song is being discussed) and more fun. we hung at the bar after closing and topped off our drinks and said see you later.
today we had a slow morning, sat down for lunch, talked about music and the bigger future despite it all, and went to the beach. the sand was white and the water was blue and the waves were crashing. seven storks flew in sync over the water, feeding together.
mobile tomorrow. new orleans wednesday. nashville friday. charlottesville saturday. brooklyn april 18th.
