Ovaettr Art Newsletter | March 2025

NEW AWARD! Zine workshop, Spring events, Shop Updates and more!

Hi everyone! It’s March, and Spring is galloping towards us as the weather begins to warm up where I am in North Texas. I have a lot of cool updates in store for y’all this month!

Before diving in, here’s the livestream of the eagles taking care of their eaglets in Big Bear Valley of CA for mental health purposes.

NOW…one large announcement pertaining to this newsletter itself is…

Separating The Newsletter: Art and Activism

For a while I have enjoyed putting some ‘calls to action’ at the end of each newsletter, but as things have progressed to nightmarish levels of fascism in our country the USA I have felt the need to speak more and share more that can help the world. Also, the newsletter itself was just becoming TOO LONG to be one thing! From here on out, I will be sending 2 newsletters a month - the regular Ovaettr Art Newsletter for my artist career, and in addition an Activism newsletter with many shared links, events, and ways you can engage with community. Since my activism is integral to my art, I will be sending both newsletters to everyone on the list. Also, cuz I cannot afford the silly subscription to Buttondown to have two separate newsletters…it’s $29 a month, no thank you lol!!

SO…I tThank you for supporting not only my art work but also my humanity and the fight for the rights that we all deserve!!

The secondary newsletter will be titled something inspired by Susan Stryker’s amazing work in ‘My Words to Victor Frankenstein’;

Having started at Attack the Page on February 22nd, I will be finishing the Lime origins comic this week and turning it into a zine. It will be included in the anthology of comics from Attack The Page being sold to benefit The Health Services of North Texas just like the last 2 years, which I’ll have purchase info for later on this year.

ALL MARCH LONG - See ‘Queer Narratives’ art show and poetry exhibit at Aura Coffee until the end of the month.

My mixed media embroidery / painting piece ‘Stitched Together’ and ‘A Funeral For My Breasts; The Birth of My Chest’ poem is a part of the show! Aura Coffee is located at 1306 W. Hickory St., Denton, TX.

Me standing in my butterfly cloak and queer butterfly "Equality" t-shirt next to my canvas painting of my chest covered with a black binder, my actual old binder I used for a decade, that i embroidered to have "rainbow thistle plant scars" representative of the growth coming from top surgery. The trans symbol is crudely embroidered in with "I am free" inside of it. The photo has three shots, one of me standing with the binder version, the binder version in middle up close, and the removed binder bare post-op chest on the right with me spreading my butterfly cloak wings looking happy behind my N95 mask.

Furry Raves in Denton TX!

We attended a Furry Rave titled Furrst of the Year and had a blast vending at it this last weekend on March 7th at Yellow Dog Art Bar in Denton! Thanks to all who stopped by and visited me there! I loved getting to debut my Lime the Nekomata paws and witchy cat ears. The event was superbly organized by Skulk Entertainment and Hold For Appawse! They run Fur Meets and Pop-Up Furry Art Markets in DFW, based in Dallas, so give them a follow!! The next event will be in June for the Pride PURR-RAVE!

Me kneeling in front of my booth with my fursuiting paws on and little black cat ears adorned with witchy sun and moon earrings. I am wearing a white N95 mask and have glasses on, and i have lime green and purple hair. I am wearing a trans glass bolo tie and a sheer see through business black button up. I am smiling under my mask.
