Ovaettr Art & Zine Distro!

After much deliberation, we have made a decision. This decision came to us after about a year of trial-and-error with graphic design jobs in the more mainstream art world with 5 to 6 months spent at the print shop job and another 5 to 6 job-hunting thereafter. Trying to figure out the answer to the simple question of: “where do I fit in?”

We have decided to take up the opportunities that seem to be opening before us quite easily in the current moment of all things ZINES, DIY, queer & anti-fascist resistance art and community-building, etc…in doing so, we are NOW declaring…

We are now a FULL-TIME independent artist! To follow suit, we have now pushed Ovaettr Art to bloom into it’s final form: Ovaettr Art & Zine Distro! I am choosing to focus more on 3 Key Elements:

• CRAFT: Art Commissions (Illustration, Motion Design, Graphic Design, Comics, Zines) opening on a monthly basis, hopefully after I clear my queue it’ll sync up with rent payments.

• CONNECTION: Art/Zine Shop & Vending In-Person as a Pop-Up

• COMMUNITY: Workshops & Arts Education available In-Person at Denton Maker Center and online via my Twitch Stream and soon with private Zoom Class Meets for instructed courses and Video Lessons available for download too!

And I am also reaffirming my commitment to doing mutual aid efforts by implementing a 4FT table mutual aid distro setup with the following free items that YOU can get from me at vendor events in Denton, TX in-person or if you are local I can give you items on a need-by-need basis, simply DM me on Instagram or e-mail orion@ovaettr.gay

NEW TIERS. I know I have been wavering on the edge of weirdness with the Patreon activity the last year, but I have finally found my focus with the advancement to becoming a ZINE DISTRO in our current sense of purpose. In realizing this, we have shifted our REWARDS on Patreon to center around the distribution of zines and information. I am keeping my sticker club at the $5 tier, and expanding upon the other tiers to provide quality zines and nice prints to $10 and $35 tiers. I’m really trying to get Patreon to function as my main form of income now too. So, I will be working hard on promoting it as we dip towards the latter half of the year and look forward to 2026. Lastly, I wanted my $2 to provide more to the supporters on this level so I have turned it into a Library Card tier to provide free digital zines to read of ANYTHING I’ve ever made including my comics.

Library Card owners get Digital Access to everything I make. General support tier, voting enabled.

Sticker Critters enjoy various Paper and Holo Black + White Stickers Printed Monthly following themes based around current events or the season, voted on by Patrons.

Zine Mail tier receive the B+W stickers PLUS a New Zine Monthly as distributed by Orion made by other people or him.

Merch Monsters get the stickers, a zine, AND one of Orion’s 5 × 7” prints of their choice from the shop’s current stock or randomly picked by Orion befitting of the seasonal theme or new releases, it varies!

I’ll be honest, I know that times are very difficult for most everyone right now. And that is why I’m committed to distributing zines freely at my Mutual Aid Distro Table (at events) and at Zine Drops in Denton Little Free Libraries, as well as maintaining a Free Digital Zine Library on my website and providing The Fox Who Became A Girl free with no barriers through itch.io.

Every subscription helps enable my art goals of going full-time, and keeps me and my cat Barby fed to boot! Thank you for any support during these hard times. We hope to give back twice as much as we receive, and to continue to do our part for the world helping make it a better place for trans & queer youth to inhabit now and tomorrow.

Many are artsy, like the Pride Chalk Path this Saturday, the Night OUT will feature many artists, and the Open Mic features poetry, song and spoken word performances. And of course, Dancing at the Dance Party counts as “ART” too! Queer bodies in motion are definitely art!
