Clearbit in 5 minutes
Clearbit (Now HubSpot Breeze Intelligence) in 5 minutes
Issue #28 - The enrichment tool you knew is gone; here's exactly what replaced it and what it costs now
What it is
Breeze Intelligence is HubSpot's rebranded version of Clearbit — a data enrichment layer that fills in missing firmographic and technographic fields on your CRM records, de-anonymizes website visitors, and flags companies showing buying signals. The product does three things: data enrichment (firmographic, technographic, demographic), website visitor identification (formerly Clearbit Reveal), and form shortening. The catch that every ex-Clearbit user has learned the hard way: if you aren't already a HubSpot customer, Clearbit no longer exists for you. The acquisition didn't just rebrand it — it locked it behind an ecosystem wall. Teams on Salesforce, Pipedrive, or homegrown stacks have no path forward without adopting HubSpot.
Where it sits in the stack
This is a data enrichment layer, sitting between your lead capture and your outreach tooling. Breeze Intelligence draws from a database of over 200 million company and contact profiles to fill in missing CRM properties like industry, company size, and buyer intent signals. It pairs natively with HubSpot Sequences and the Breeze Prospecting Agent for outbound, and with HubSpot's form tools for inbound shortening. For teams not on HubSpot, it has been effectively replaced in common stacks by Clay (waterfall enrichment), Apollo (enrichment + database), or Cognism (EMEA-heavy coverage).
Three workflows people actually run
1. Auto-enrich new contacts on CRM entry — When a net-new contact lands in HubSpot (via form fill, list import, or manual add), trigger a HubSpot Workflow that fires Breeze Intelligence enrichment. Breeze does the same core job as the old Clearbit — same data sources, same enrichment process — but integrated into HubSpot's CRM and marketing tools. The enriched record gets company size, revenue range, industry, and tech stack appended automatically. From there, route to a lead score threshold: contacts above the threshold get enrolled in a HubSpot Sequence; those below get dropped into a nurture list. No rep touches a record with blank fields again. One gotcha: if you have enrichment triggered on form submissions, contact creation, list imports, and CRM updates all running at the same time, credits can drain significantly faster than estimated. A team with five active HubSpot workflows can burn through 1,000 credits in days rather than weeks.
2. Buyer Intent → timed outbound sequence — Once target companies are tracked, HubSpot watches for buying moments like funding rounds, executive hires, and visits to high-intent pages on your website. When a signal fires, act on it in workflows, segments, and lead scoring. Build a HubSpot Workflow: when Buyer Intent score crosses your threshold OR a target account hits your pricing page, auto-create a Task for the owning rep and enroll the account's primary contact in a short 3-step HubSpot Sequence. This is essentially the Clearbit Reveal use case from 2019, now fully native in HubSpot without a separate webhook. Buyer intent scoring is only as strong as the signals it's pulling from. If your lifecycle stages are inconsistent, or your tracking setup is incomplete — key pages aren't tagged properly, or forms aren't mapped — the scores may be skewed or misleading. Fix your tracking code first.
3. Form shortening for demo requests — Basic contact and company enrichment is now free with all HubSpot Starter+ Core Seats, no credits required. Form shortening is also free since September 2025. In practice: strip your demo request form down to email + company name only. Breeze auto-fills the rest (title, phone, company size, industry) on submission by matching the email domain against its database. Fewer fields = higher conversion rate on your most valuable form. Pair with HubSpot's Smart Forms and you can progressively profile returning visitors without asking the same questions twice. This is one of the few Breeze features that costs nothing extra if you're already on a paid HubSpot plan.
What it costs
The pricing has three layers stacked on top of each other, and the headline number is always the misleading one.
Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) costs a minimum of $75/month — $30 for HubSpot Starter and $45 for 100 Breeze Intelligence credits on annual billing. But 100 credits is almost nothing at real outbound volume.
Pricing is credit-based: 100 credits for $30–$50/month, 1,000 for $150/month, or 10,000 for $700/month, where one credit enriches one record. Credits expire monthly. No rollover.
Bundled credits by HubSpot tier: Starter gets ~500/month, Pro ~3,000/month, Enterprise ~5,000/month.
Advanced features like Buyer Intent and Smart Properties still consume credits from a monthly pool that resets with no rollover.
Additional credits cost $10 per 1,000 (monthly) or $9 per 1,000 (annually).
The real cost for a mid-market team: mid-market teams on HubSpot Professional typically pay $1,000–$5,000+/month when combining the HubSpot subscription with adequate credit packs.
The critical gotchas:
All AI features draw from the same credit pool. If your Marketing team uses 4,000 credits running Smart Properties to find LinkedIn URLs, your Customer Support team may effectively "run out of money" for their Chat Agent.
- If you exceed your monthly credit cap, HubSpot auto-upgrades to the next tier for the remainder of your annual contract.
- The standalone Enrichment API, Logo API, and Prospector API were deprecated. New API keys are not available for accounts created in 2024 or later; only legacy accounts from 2023 and earlier retain API key access.
- Old Clearbit Prospector offered phone reveals. Breeze dropped phone reveals entirely. You'll need a separate tool (Kaspr, Lusha, etc.) for direct dials.

Who it's for (and who should skip it)
Good fit: Teams already running HubSpot as their CRM who want enrichment and intent data without duct-taping a third-party tool into their stack. Clearbit/Breeze Intelligence in 2026 is a solid enrichment engine trapped inside a walled garden. The data quality is still good — firmographics, technographics, and company-level insights remain accurate for US B2B companies. If HubSpot is your system of record and you're on Professional or Enterprise already, the incremental cost of Breeze is reasonable given the native workflow automation.
Skip it if: You're not on HubSpot or don't plan to be. Data coverage is strongest for North American SaaS companies; international and SMB coverage has notable gaps. EMEA-heavy TAMs or SMB lists will disappoint you. And if you need CRM-agnostic enrichment, a waterfall enrichment setup in Clay (pulling from Apollo, Clearbit's old API via legacy accounts, and others) will give you better coverage and more flexibility at likely lower total cost.
