This is Meatfare Week on the Old Calendar, our final week to eat meat before the Great Lent. Wednesday and Friday are fasting days, while the remaining days are fast free. We celebrate the Synaxis of the Three Hierarchs on Thursday and observe Memorial Saturday for the faithful departed. The week closes with the Sunday of the Last Judgment, which also coincides with the great feast of the Meeting of the Lord in the Temple.
