🇸🇪 SWWW 2024: Find openwashdata and Global Health Engineering in Stockholm

☀️ In this newsletter, we celebrate our first-ever openwashdata hackathon, 20 graduates from our first "data science for openwashdata" course, and a mathematician's internship experience in WASH.

🚀 First Data Package Hackathon Success

On June 21st, openwashdata successfully hosted the first data package hackathon. Six data enthusiasts gathered in Zurich to work on diverse WASH datasets from countries like Malawi 🇲🇼, Uganda 🇺🇬, Brazil 🇧🇷, Peru 🇵🇪, and Ghana 🇬🇭. In a hands-on session, Mian Zhong introduced the participants to the openwashdata workflow of data package development. Within just 8 hours, every participant delivered an impressive data package.

🌻 Welcome to the June issue. We want to share some new datasets including the first dataset about Open Research Data in WASH.

🚀 Two new datasets Released!

We have two new datasets released for you about open research and investment in WASH! Presented by openwashdata team, washopenresearch is the first dataset investigating the data availability of publications in the WASH sector. This first version reviews two sources and it will be expanded in the future versions. Check them out 🤩:

• washopenresearch: Dataset about open research data availability in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
• washinvestments：Dataset on multilateral development bank (MDB) investment in water supply and sanitation.
