openDAW now runs WebCLAP plugins
openDAW now hosts WebCLAP plugins. WebCLAP is CLAP, the open plugin standard of desktop DAWs, compiled to WebAssembly. A plugin built as a WebCLAP runs inside openDAW with its own interface, and many plugins from the desktop world can be rebuilt that way.
Until now every device in openDAW was one we built ourselves. With WebCLAP that list is open to every plugin developer.
Some online DAWs offer VST support, but it only works with a native helper app that you download and install first, and the plugins still run outside the browser. A WebCLAP plugin runs inside the browser itself. There is no helper app and nothing to install, and a project opens with its plugins on any computer.

The first plugins are available in the openDAW cloud:
OB-Xf by the Surge Synth Team
Pro54 from Cmajor
Basics effects by Signalsmith Audio
Tapa, MNO and Slide by Charlie Culbert
Add a WebCLAP device to a track and choose a plugin with Load Plugin. Plugins from other sources can be imported from disk. Their parameters can be automated, modulated and mapped to MIDI controllers, and the plugins travel with project bundles and live rooms.
Many open source plugins are written with JUCE. Our kit for porting JUCE plugins to WebCLAP is available here.
