New horizons: moving on from Feminist Press
It has been an incredible honor and privilege to lead Feminist Press for the past three years, nurturing, publishing, and celebrating writing from marginalized and insurgent voices and working to build a more just future for everyone.
I have loved the work I’ve done alongside passionate and dedicated writers, colleagues, and board members: editing and publishing a broad range of books which have pushed boundaries, shared critical perspectives, and made me laugh, and cry, and think about so many things in new ways. I’m truly excited to see what the next leader of Feminist Press will accomplish, and will be cheering them on as they carry forward this work which is more necessary than ever.
After nearly two decades focused on supporting and lifting up other writers’ and artists’ creative work, I am switching gears a bit to focus on my own writing and creative practice, including as the editor of Absolute Pleasure: Queer Writers on Five Messy Decades of Rocky Horror, forthcoming from Feminist Press in Fall 2025, which will be the 50th anniversary of the film’s release. You can sign up for my free newsletter (but if you got this as an email, you’re already signed up) to get more information about the book as it’s available! I’m looking forward to having the time and mental space to begin sending On The Books again more frequently in the new year.
I will also be taking on select editing, writing, publishing consulting, and creative funding and crowdfunding projects. To learn more, visit my website.
I will be working at Feminist Press until February 2025, and can be reached here after that. I will share the link to the new job listing when it is available. Here’s the Feminist Press release.
If you’d like to follow my work, I’m on Bluesky, Twitter, Instagram, Threads, and here, my On the Books Newsletter on Buttondown.
