Disillusion

Hello again. Things are happening. But also, are not.

But there is, the skull.

I been falling into a bad case of doom scrolling. And dragging myself out of that mentally has required far more concious effort than I would like.

Thankfully, tge internet is kind of boring these days. So making myself do crochet or whittling can sometimes help break the cycle a little bit. Gives my hand something to do.

But that's not why you are here. To some work in progress pictures!

Wood burning is getting there. Have even tried some experiments on embossing leather. I've also painted some of these but I forgot to take photos. Oops. Next week perhaps. I want to varnish but it has been relentlessly raining since yesterday.

A personal altar piece for when I finally build my altar. Top image is for winter with symbology for Celtic gods the morigain and cernunnos. Both are occasionally regarded as psycopomps (guids to the underworld/death). And on the other side brighid for summer. She frequently regarded to be the patron goddess of poets and blacksmiths. Once varnished I'll be attaching a cord so I can flip it around when the seasons turn.

It’s been a good practice and gives me a good indication of how much more practice I need still.

I forgot to flip this to landscape oops. This is going to be my entry for 45 downstairs small exhibition. After changing the design 3 times lol. The exhibition itself is supose to be anonymous so I probably shouldn't have post the wip here. No mater.

I've started work for cover versions exhibition at the Fitzroy gallery but I haven't done enough of it to warrant a picture. I still can't figure out what medium to do it in.

I'll be working on these and hopefully two comics. Working names for them are project book train and program dreamland. More on those next week. At this stage they will be newsletter exclusives until I get a website up and running. And updated once a month so I don't bombard you.

Other things. What am I listening to? With forge festival happening this month I've been listening to bear the mammoth: purple haus and transience: temple .

I'm a long time bear the mammoth fan. Very good ambient math metal. Transience is new to me and I'm kind of wish I found them sooner. More prog than anything. Yes. I'm a prog kind of nerd.

What an I reading? I'm still reading Dracula daily newsletter. Its the furthest I've gotten with the book in 2 previous attempts to read it. Unfortunately it means I'm on my phone more than I would like. I'm also reading Die written by Kieran gillen. The are is beautiful and I don't fully comprehend what's going on most ofcthe time. It's a slow infuriating drip fed of info. Because Kieran gillen is a rat basturd (affectionate).

That's is for the week. I've got heaps of drawing and resurch to do. So I will see next time ^_^
