Linguistics professor Dr. Rita Deyoe-Chiullán has spent her entire adult life (57 years!) teaching students at all levels, from Elementary age Bilingual kids to 7th Grade Reading to Masters and Doctoral candidates.
Office Hours is a weekly update from Rita as she navigates diagnosed dementia and the new normal of living in managed care. Following a near-fatal fall and over a year in inpatient rehabilitative care, Rita is determined to make it to a full 60 years of teaching (and beyond), albeit in a very different venue and format than ever before.
Every Sunday morning installment of Office Hours is written and edited by her “Teaching Assistant” son Moisés, but Rita reviews every installment before it is scheduled to arrive in your inbox.
Former students and colleagues are encouraged to contribute their stories of “What Rita Taught Me,” to be shared with their permission.
All proceeds from recurring monthly subscriptions and other contributions go directly toward Rita’s living and medical expenses.
