Dead on. To me it often feels as though those of us who display any kind of detail orientation or genuine desire to learn things get told, essentially, "if you're such a big brain, put it at the service of others."
I have a more emotional sequel in mind to this particular piece, but on this side of things, it's impossible to resist the conclusion that you pay a social and cognitive price for being attentive, responsible, or even just not particularly self-centered.
