This weekend in Norwalk: a Revolutionary War living history at Mill Hill, Bruce Lee at the library, and a lighthouse cruise to Sheffield Island
Morning, Norwalk. The big holiday weekend is behind us, the power is mostly back on, and what is left is the kind of summer Saturday the SoNo crowd actually prefers. Fewer crowds, a Revolutionary War one-woman show at Mill Hill, and a boat waiting at 90 Water Street. We sorted the weekend so you can spend less time scrolling and more time on the harbor.
Best for families this weekend: the Deborah Sampson living history at Mill Hill on Saturday (all ages, and a real story) and a free screening of "Enter the Dragon" at the library on Sunday afternoon.
Thursday, July 9
Mahjong for Beginners, Session 2 at the Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Avenue. The follow-up to last week's session, for anyone who watched the tiles click and wanted in. Free, 10:30 AM, all ages. Details.

In Case You Missed It
Norwalk's cannabis fund has topped $600,000, and the city is finally drafting rules for how to spend it. The account has been filling since legalization, and Lamond Daniels, the former chief of social services who pushed for it, wants the money aimed at the neighborhoods that carried the costs of prohibition. The City Council advanced a harbor study for the master plan. The city-commissioned report recommends significantly more moorings and a municipal marina, which is a real conversation about who gets access to the water once the Walk Bridge work is finished. Source: NancyOnNorwalk.
More than a thousand Eversource customers were still dark days after the Fourth of July storm. If your food spoiled or you need a place to cool off, the city has posted where to get help. Source: NancyOnNorwalk.
Saturday, July 11
A Revolution of Her Own: Deborah Sampson at Mill Hill Historic Park, Town House, 2 East Wall Street. A one-woman living history about the woman who disguised herself as a man to fight in the Continental Army, then a Q&A and light refreshments. It runs about an hour and it is the right kind of story for the summer the country turns 250. $17.85, 2 PM (doors 1:40), all ages. Tickets.
Colonial Candle Making at the Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Avenue. Crafting for adults, hand-dipped the old way. Free, 11 AM, adults. Details.
Weekly Wellness Walk at Calf Pasture Beach, 195 Calf Pasture Beach Road (East Norwalk). A community walk along the water to start the weekend with something other than a cookout. Free, outdoors, all levels. Eventbrite.
Bop to the Top at District Music Hall, 30 Wall Street (SoNo). A dance night spinning the anthems and the guilty-pleasure bops, for the crowd that wants a Saturday that ends on the floor. 21+, evening. Eventbrite.
Sunday, July 12
Enter the Dragon at the Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Avenue. A free screening of Bruce Lee's 1973 martial arts classic, air-conditioned and open to everyone. If the heat is still hanging around, this is the plan. Free, 1 PM, all ages. Details.

On the Horizon
The Sheffield Island Clambake returns Tuesday, July 14, also from 90 Water Street. Steamers, the boat ride, and the lighthouse at golden hour. If Sunday's cruise leaves you wanting the full version, this is it. Tickets.
An Evening of Poetry with Steven Antoine Willis lands at Factory Underground, 28 Ann Street (SoNo), on Tuesday, July 15. Willis and guests read in the same SoNo room that usually holds a band. Eventbrite.
